Description
Giovanni John Sasso, an Italian immigrant, established John's of Bleecker Street at the turn of the 20th century. John's was first opened in the centre of Greenwich Village on Sullivan Street. John Sasso moved to 278 Bleecker Street after losing his lease on Sullivan Street, where he continued to operate and expand his business while perfecting his pizza recipe. He did this by dismantling his old coal-fired brick oven.
